THE GIRL WHO RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM TOMORROW
Chapter 3: The Girl Outside the Door
The knocking continued.
Three slow knocks.
Then silence.
Amara stood frozen in the middle of the sitting room. Her mother was trembling, tears running down her cheeks.
"Mummy, who is outside?" Amara whispered.
Her mother grabbed her hand.
"Don't you dare open that door!"
"But you heard her. She called you Mummy."
Her mother shook her head.
"That girl is not my daughter."
Suddenly, Amara's phone vibrated.
UNKNOWN NUMBER:
Don't listen to your mother. She has been lying to you since the day you were born.
Amara's heart raced.
Another message arrived.
Look underneath your mother's bed. You will find the truth.
Before Amara could think, the knocking started again.
This time, the voice outside sounded angry.
"AMARA! OPEN THE DOOR! SHE IS NOT YOUR MOTHER!"
Her mother screamed.
"STOP IT!"
Amara slowly turned towards her.
"Mummy, why is she saying you're not my mother?"
Her mother began crying uncontrollably.
"Because... because I stole you."
The room became completely silent.
Amara stepped backwards.
"What?"
Her mother covered her mouth, realizing what she had just said.
Before she could explain, Amara's phone rang.
It was Jennifer.
Her best friend.
Amara answered immediately.
"Jennifer! Something terrible is happening. There's a girl outside who looks exactly like me."
Jennifer remained silent for a few seconds.
Then she whispered:
"Amara, listen carefully. Whatever happens, don't let her inside."
"Why?"
Jennifer took a deep breath.
"Because I saw her yesterday."
Amara froze.
"Where?"
Jennifer's next words made her blood run cold.
"At your funeral",
Chapter 4: The Funeral That Hasn't Happened Yet
Amara couldn't move.
"My funeral?" she repeated, her voice shaking.
Jennifer began crying on the phone.
"Amara, I know this sounds impossible, but I saw your funeral yesterday. Your mother was there, your classmates were there, and everyone was crying."
Amara looked at her mother.
"Tell me she's lying, Mummy!"
Her mother said nothing.
Suddenly, the lights went off.
Darkness swallowed the entire room.
Then Amara heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Amara..."
She turned around.
A girl was standing near the staircase.
It was her.
Same face. Same hairstyle. Same clothes.
But there was something different about her eyes. They looked empty, as if she had seen something no human being should ever see.
"Who are you?" Amara screamed.
The strange girl smiled sadly.
"I'm you. Three days from now."
Amara dropped her phone.
"That's impossible!"
The girl moved closer.
"You have to trust me. Tomorrow morning, don't go to school. And whatever you do, don't enter Room 17."
Before Amara could ask another question, her mother shouted:
"RUN!"
A loud crash came from the front door.
Someone had broken in.
Amara turned towards the entrance, but when she looked back, the mysterious girl had disappeared.
Her phone suddenly lit up.
A new message appeared.
UNKNOWN NUMBER:
You have 24 hours left.
Then another message followed.
And Amara, the person who will kill you is someone you love.
Amara slowly raised her eyes towards her mother.
Her mother was holding a bloody photograph.
It was a picture of Amara as a baby.
On the back, someone had written:
"THE WRONG CHILD WAS SAVED."
Amara's hands began shaking.
Perhaps the biggest mystery wasn't who was sending messages from tomorrow.
It was why someone had changed her future.
And who had she really been born to?
