What is NERSI?
National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI). It is a presidential intervention by President Bola Tinubu to help vulnerable households cope with rising food prices and cost of living.
Announced: October 30, 2026 by Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, in Abuja.
HOW MUCH?
N50,000 every month to selected vulnerable households.
Government says amount will be reviewed based on cost of living.
WHO QUALIFIES?
- Poor and vulnerable households
- Selected from National Social Register
- Selected through verified National Identity records (NIN)
- You CANNOT apply - No application needed
HOW WILL THEY SELECT YOU?
Ministry says beneficiaries are identified automatically from social register. If you are selected, you will receive SMS.
HOW WILL YOU BE PAID?
1. You will receive SMS from approved providers asking for your CONSENT
2. After you consent, money goes directly to your bank account or mobile wallet
3. You can withdraw through agents, mobile wallet, or transfer to bank
