Chapter 1: The Message That Changed Everything
Amara was the kind of girl who could sleep through a thunderstorm but would wake up immediately if her phone vibrated.
That Thursday night, she was lying on her bed, scrolling through videos and laughing at a ridiculous dance challenge when her phone buzzed.
An unknown number had sent her a message.
Unknown Number: Don't open the front door at exactly 11:47 p.m.
Amara frowned.
"Who is this person, and why are they disturbing my peace?" she muttered.
She checked the time. 11:42 p.m.
She ignored the message and continued watching videos.
Three minutes later, another message arrived.
Unknown Number: Your mother is about to call you. Don't tell her you're awake.
Before Amara could laugh at the ridiculous prediction, her mother's voice came from downstairs.
"Amara! Are you still awake?"
Amara froze.
Slowly, she typed a reply.
Amara: Who are you?
The response came immediately.
Unknown Number: Someone who knows what happens tomorrow.
She sat upright.
Then another message appeared.
Unknown Number: At 11:47 p.m., someone will knock on your door. Whatever you do, don't let them in.
Amara glanced at the clock.
11:46 p.m.
Suddenly, three loud knocks echoed through the house.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Her phone slipped from her hand.
Chapter 2: The Visitor
Amara crept toward her bedroom door and listened.
"Amara?" a familiar voice whispered from the hallway.
It sounded exactly like her best friend, Tobi.
She reached for the doorknob, but her phone vibrated again.
Unknown Number: THAT IS NOT TOBI.
Her heart pounded.
"Tobi, what are you doing here?" she called through the door.
"Please open the door. I need your help," the voice answered.
Something was wrong.
Tobi lived forty minutes away, and he had never visited her house this late without calling first.
She grabbed her phone and dialled his number.
He answered on the second ring.
"Amara? Why are you calling me at midnight? I'm sleeping!"
Her blood ran cold.
The person outside her door began laughing.
Not Tobi's laugh.
Not even a human-sounding laugh.
Then the footsteps moved away.
Amara locked her bedroom door and stayed awake until sunrise.
In the morning, she checked the unknown number again.
There was one new message.
Unknown Number: You listened. Good. Now check your father's old suitcase.
Chapter 3: The Secret in the Suitcase
Amara found her father's suitcase hidden beneath a pile of old clothes in the storeroom.
Inside were photographs, letters, and a small black notebook.
The first photograph showed her father standing beside a woman Amara had never seen before.
On the back, someone had written:
The truth must never reach Amara.
Her hands trembled.
Her father had died when she was seven. Her mother always said he was an ordinary businessman who had died in a road accident.
But the notebook contained something different.
According to the entries, her father had discovered a secret involving a powerful family in their city. He had collected evidence, but before he could reveal it, he disappeared from public records.
Amara heard footsteps behind her.
Her mother stood at the doorway.
"Where did you find that?" she whispered.
Amara turned slowly.
"Mum, who was this woman?"
Her mother's face lost its colour.
For several seconds, neither spoke.
Then her mother closed the storeroom door.
"Amara, there is something I've been afraid to tell you."
Before she could continue, Amara's phone vibrated.
The message contained only six words.
Unknown Number: Your mother is hiding the biggest secret.
Amara looked up.
Her mother was crying.
Chapter 4: The Final Message
"Your father didn't die in that accident," her mother finally confessed. "He disappeared because someone wanted him to stop investigating a crime."
Amara could barely breathe.
"Then why did you lie to me?"
"Because I thought it would keep you safe."
Her phone vibrated again.
This time, the message was different.
Unknown Number: You have until midnight to discover who I am.
Amara typed furiously.
Amara: Tell me your name!
The reply arrived.
Unknown Number: Look at the first photograph again.
She picked up the photograph of her father and the mysterious woman.
Behind them stood a little girl holding a balloon.
Amara stared at the girl.
The girl's face was unmistakable.
It was her.
But the photograph was dated three years before she was born.
Impossible.
Then she noticed something written in tiny letters at the bottom.
Project Tomorrow — Day One.
Her phone rang.
The unknown number was calling.
Amara answered.
A familiar voice spoke.
"Hello, Amara."
She stopped breathing.
It was her own voice.
Older. Deeper. Terrified.
"Listen carefully," the voice said. "You have to stop them before tomorrow night. And whatever happens, don't trust the person reading this story."
The call ended.
Amara slowly turned toward the doorway.
Her mother was gone.
And on the floor lay a fresh photograph.
It showed Amara standing in front of her house.
The date printed on it was tomorrow.
THE END... OR IS IT?
