THE UNWILFUL MIND
There are battles nobody sees, wars fought silently within the walls of the human mind.
Amara was a young woman who constantly struggled with her thoughts. She wanted happiness but feared disappointment. She wanted love but questioned its intentions. Even in moments of peace, her mind searched for reasons to worry.Growing up, she had learned to keep her feelings to herself. She became familiar with silence, mastered the art of pretending, and slowly forgot what it meant to put herself first.
People called her strong, but nobody understood the exhaustion behind her strength. One evening, while searching through her old journal, she stumbled upon a sentence she had written years ago,"I hope to become someone I do not have to apologise for being."She paused. How had she gone from a girl with beautiful dreams to someone who constantly questioned her worth?
Perhaps life had changed her. Perhaps people had disappointed her. Or perhaps she had spent so much time trying to understand everyone else that she had forgotten herself.
That night, she realised something, the mind can become a prison when we allow yesterday's memories to dictate tomorrow's possibilities.
She could not change everything that had happened, but she could begin to change how she lived with it.
For once, she decided to listen to herself. And although the battle within was far from over, Amara was finally ready to find her way back to herself.
Sometimes, the mind is not unwilling to heal; it is simply struggling to let go of what it has known for too long.
