Chapter One: The Unexpected Message
I never believed my life could change because of one message.
It was 11:47 p.m. when my phone suddenly vibrated.
An unknown number.
“Don't trust the man you're about to fall in love with.”
I laughed when I read it. Someone was obviously trying to play a stupid prank on me.
But before I could reply, another message arrived.
“Especially if his name is Daniel.”
My smile disappeared.
Daniel was the name of the handsome stranger I had met just three days earlier. He was charming, wealthy, and everything I had ever dreamed of in a man.
How could someone know about him?
I quickly typed:
“Who are you?”
The reply came almost immediately.
“Someone who knows what he did to your sister.”
My heart stopped.
My sister had disappeared five years ago, and nobody had ever found out what happened to her.
I stared at the screen, my hands trembling.
Then another message arrived.
“Meet me tomorrow at 6 p.m. Come alone.”
Before I could respond, the number called me.
I picked up.
A woman's voice whispered:
“If you want to know the truth about your sister, stop seeing Daniel.”
Then the call ended.
I sat frozen on my bed.
For the first time in five years, I felt like I was finally close to discovering what happened to my sister.
But I had no idea that the truth would destroy everything I believed about love.
