Chapter One: The Secret Behind Her Smile
Nobody knew what Amara was going through.
Every morning, she walked through the streets with a beautiful smile on her face. She greeted everyone, laughed with her friends and acted as though life was perfect.
But when night came and everyone went to sleep, Amara became a different person.
She would sit beside her bedroom window, stare at the stars and quietly wipe away her tears.
She had learned one painful lesson in life: sometimes, the people who smile the most are the ones fighting the hardest battles.
Amara was twenty-two years old. She came from a poor family, and her mother had struggled for years to provide for her and her younger brother.
Her biggest dream was to become successful, build a comfortable home for her mother and give her family the life they had always prayed for.
But life had other plans.
One afternoon, while returning from the market, Amara received a phone call from an unknown number.
"Hello, am I speaking with Miss Amara?" a deep male voice asked.
"Yes, please. Who is this?"
"My name is Daniel. I believe you knew my late father."
Amara stopped walking.
Her late father?
She had lost her father when she was only eight years old. She barely remembered his face, and nobody in her family ever liked discussing him.
"How did you get my number?" she asked nervously.
"I have something important that belongs to you. Something your father left behind before he died."
Amara's heart began to beat faster.
"What is it?"
There was a brief silence.
Then Daniel said something that completely changed her life.
"Your father wasn't the man your family told you he was."
Before Amara could ask another question, the call ended.
She stood in the middle of the road, confused and frightened.
That evening, she couldn't eat. She couldn't sleep. Her mind kept returning to those mysterious words.
The following morning, another message arrived.
It contained an address and just five words:
"Come alone. Your past awaits."
Amara stared at her phone for several minutes.
She knew she was about to discover something that could change everything she believed about her family.
But what she didn't know was that the truth waiting for her would be far more painful than the lies she had lived with.
