EPISODE 1: THE STRANGER
Zara Bennett was not the kind of woman who believed in fairy tales.
At twenty-three, she had learned that life was not always kind, and love was certainly not something she wanted to gamble with.
She worked as a receptionist at a private hotel in the city. Her life was simple: work, eat, sleep and repeat .
one Friday night.
It was raining heavily when Zara arrived at her apartment building. She was exhausted and all she wanted was a warm shower and her bed.
But something caught her attention.
A black luxury car was parked directly opposite the entrance.
The windows were tinted, but she could see someone sitting inside.
She ignored it and walked towards the entrance.
"Zara Bennett?"
She stopped.
A deep male voice came from behind her.
She turned.
A tall man stood a few feet away. He wore a black shirt, expensive wristwatch and a look that suggested he was used to getting whatever he wants.
She turned and entered the building.
But just before the door closed, his voice stopped her.
"One more thing, Zara."
She looked back.
"Don't open your bedroom window tonight."
Her expression changed.
"Excuse me?"
"Keep it locked. No matter what you hear."
Before she could ask another question, he walked towards his car and disappeared into the rain.
Zara shook her head.
"Crazy rich people," she muttered.
After that she got back from work and was sleeping when she suddenly heard sounds coming from her window.
Tap.
Tap.
She opened her eyes.
The sound came from her bedroom window.
She sat up slowly.
Another three knocks followed.
This time, they were louder.
Zara reached for her phone and switched on the flashlight.
Her bedroom was on the fourth floor.
Nobody could possibly be standing outside her window.
She approached the curtains.
Just as she was about to pull them aside, her phone rang.
Unknown number.
She answered."Whatever you do, don't answer her."
Zara swallowed.
"Adrian... who is outside my window?"
There was a brief silence.
Then he said something that made her blood run cold.
"Something that has been trying to find you for the last seven years."
The bedroom lights went off.
And from behind her, a man's voice whispered:
"He's lying to you."
Zara slowly turned around.
A shadow stood beside her bedroom wardrobe.
