My best friend took my business
## The Brother I Chose
I never had a real brother.
So when I met Kevin in Form 2, I made him one.
We shared everything. Food when we had no money. Clothes when we had no new ones. Dreams when everyone else said we were wasting time.
After school, it was still us. Same hustle. Same struggles. Same plan to make it out of Kisii town one day.
### The Business We Built Together
When I got the idea for my business — selling phones in Kisii town — Kevin was the first person I told.
He was the only person I told.
"I swear, bro," he said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "We will make it together. You and me. No one else."
I believed him. I believed him with my whole heart.
I gave him my supplier's number. I gave him my customers' numbers. I gave him the keys to my small shop. I even gave him my password.
Because brothers don't steal from brothers.
Right?
I worked day and night to build that shop. I skipped meals to save stock. I borrowed money to pay rent. Kevin was there for all of it, smiling, helping, promising.
I thought I was building a future for both of us.
### The Morning Everything Was Gone
Then one Saturday, I went to the shop early.
The door was locked. My phone was off. My customers were not picking up.
And when I finally got inside...
The shop was empty.
Empty shelves. Empty drawers. Empty everything.
My business was gone.
And so was Kevin.
I called my girlfriend, Faith. She was the only person who could calm me down.
She didn't pick up. I called again. Again. Again.
Then I saw it.
A photo on WhatsApp Status.
Kevin. Smiling. In MY shop. With MY stock.
And next to him, holding his hand...
Faith.
### The Betrayal
My best friend took my business.
And my girl.
In one weekend.
I stood there in that empty shop, looking at the empty shelves, and I understood one painful truth: sometimes the person you trust the most is the one who will hurt you the most.
This is just the beginning of my story.
Chapter 2 is coming. You will not believe what Kevin did next.
